We recently met with The Hot Fox Studio Owners and Founders, Melissa and Scott Devenney. Melissa and Scott kindly showed us their spacious and welcoming studio – our neighbours here on Canal Road – formerly Newmills, bringing together their growing community of yoga enthusiasts in the heart of town.
The Hot Fox Studio Yoga and Movement space is designed to help you feel better in your body and mind, no matter what level you’re starting at. Their full timetable has classes for all abilities and bodies. Melissa and Scott firmly believe that everyone can benefit from yoga as often as possible and shared incredible examples with us, of the positive impact of yoga practice and movement on so many students, improving mental health, physical health, helping to heal injuries and to relieve pain.
Melissa has been teaching yoga for over eleven years now, having started to practice daily in 2011 for six months immediately after her first class, and later going on to train in LA in 2013 and beginning to teach directly afterward. Melissa experienced the benefits first hand and becoming a passionate and skilled advocate for Yoga – learning constantly – from the 26&2 sequence as well as from senior teachers, seminars and most of all from her students. Melissa completing a Yin training in 2018 and is currently exploring Hatha Flow.
Scott has dedicated the past twenty years to the study of anatomy, movement, pain science and exercise, with extensive qualifications and has been working actively as a PT since 2009 but made the transition to yoga in 2020. Scott specialises in Pain Management through Movement, Sports Performance Work, and enjoys helping students with limited mobility improve their day to day lives through focused breath work and yoga movement.
Melissa and Scott’s combined experience, expertise passion and energy is infectious – the calm and friendly environment reflects the positive culture the couple have created at Hot Fox Studio.
Having built a stellar reputation and loyal community in their Newmills studio, Melissa and Scott took a leap of faith to moved to a more central location here in town and are going from strength to strength, thanks to their hard work and commitment to their students.
