Welcome New Letterkenny Chamber Member – Cairde Le Cheile

We met up with Rosaleen Gallagher Facilities Manger at Cairde Le Cheile CLG @ The Vestry, a little while back and learned about the stellar work being carried out by Rosaleen and the team. ‘Friends Together Supporting People with Disability.’

Established in 2005, Cairde Le Cheile was born out of the Special Olympics in 2003, created to provide permanent services for people with disability in County Donegal. Providing and facilitating – sporting, social and employment opportunities for people with disability, as well as young people and senior citizens in County Donegal.

Cairde le Cheile were named the Best Community Organisation/Social Enterprise (Large) at the Donegal Local Development CLG Community Recognition Awards 2022.

Rosaleen has been with the organisation since 2019, a proactive and dedicated leader who works alongside her team and the Board of Management to establish, promote, operate and develop the community centre for people with disability, creating a welcoming and practical hub for disability groups in the area. A core mission in terms of the social enterprise side of Cairde Le Cheile is to encourage, promote and provide employment opportunities wherever and whenever possible for people with disabilities.

Cairde Le Cheile, The Vestry is situated on the St. Conal’s Hospital Campus on the edge of Letterkenny Town Park. Surrounded by greenery, ample parking and accessible spaces and provides facilities for social, recreational, educational, and other leisure-time occupants, for the benefit of people with disabilities.

New developments for extra spaces and facilities are near completion, with direct access to the park, fully accessible restrooms, sensory spaces, and multi-purpose changing rooms – which is great news for the community.

A thriving hub of activity with wonderful space for events, groups and classes from pilates to dog training, yoga, professional development, multi cultural activities, team building, drama, a whole host of clubs and societies use the space – and are welcome to rent/make use of the spacious events spaces!

Thank you to Rosaleen for meeting us and to Chamber Council Member and Cairde Le Cheile Board Member, Shane Grant – for organising.
