Andy explains, that – the cost for finding a leak is usually recoverable through home/building insurance under “trace and access”. AMG use specialist equipment to identify leaks, including:
- Digital electro-acoustic- When a leak occurs the water flowing from the pipe causes vibrations in the surrounding materials. This noise is then picked up with the ground microphone indicating we are above the source of the leak.
- Thermal imaging camera- A very useful instrument that’s offers a quick, non intrusive method to locate water leaks and trace the route of pipework beneath the ground by highlighting the differences in surface temperatures.
- Tracer gas detection- If the leak cannot be easily heard then tracer gas is added to the leaking pipework. The gas is lighter than air and rises up through concrete floors, timber and most floor finishes which is then detected by a highly sensitive detection probe
AMG Leak Detection can also provide a water audit service which aims to reduce water usage and water bills within a business or commercial property. The survey consists of checking water meters, storage tanks, toilets, basins, pipework and any water associated appliances. By doing this potential leaks can be avoided or ongoing leaks can be repaired reducing your water consumption.
