Exploring AI
Businesses are bombarded with information about AI. The chamber decided to respond to the opportunity and the confustion of AI with practical opportunities for members from talks to workshops and live ‘run throughs’ of new AI agents. In March we partnered with ATU for a session on transforming your business through AI and data. The strong attendance and engagement showed us that businesses were keen to learn more.
AI Workshops with TechNorthWest Skillnet
From talking with business owners we knew there was a real need for practical help with AI so we partnered with TechNorthWest Skillnet to deliver three focused AI workshops.

THE WORKSHOPS : By keeping the groups small, members had the chance to ask questions, discuss their own challenges and explore practical uses for AI across areas such as : Marketing, Administration and Claude Cowork. The sessions were delivered by Dr Carla Roets, who guided participants through examples and ideas that could be applied directly to their businesses with time to work on their own business in class.
AI Agents for SMEs
We also showcased local innovation through our Meet the Member webinar with Smooth Communications, who have developed AI agents for businesses. The AI agent acts as a virtual receptionist and manages bookings.The packages were based on usage, meaning that everyone from a sole trader to a large business could find an option that would work for their budget. We were given live demonstrations of an AI Agent at work answering the phone and taking orders at a Takeaway and heard about how tradesmen are using AI Agents to fill in their calendar while they work as well as nursing homes to field calls and enquiries.
